In Episode 1 of The Wheel of Time Season 1 - Leavetaking, Moiraine and her Warder travel to the village of Two Rivers in search of clues about who might be the Dragon Reborn, but soon find themselves ambushed by Folloc monsters.

Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) is an Aes Sedai, loosely known as a channeller, who can control an elemental force known as the One Power and use it as a magic weapons. Years ago, the male half of the One Power was corrupted, driving the male Aes Sedai insane, and Lews Therin Telamon, known as powerful Dragon, tore the world apart in his madness. .
Some Aes Sedai females want to eliminate (or gentle) the now-falling males, but Moiraine and her Warder Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney) seek the Dragon Reborn to defeat the Dark One, a primordial evil force.
Their search leads them to the Two Rivers area where they find four possible candidates based on their age, including Rand, Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Mat (Barney Harris) and Egwene al'Vere. Moiraine intends to take the quartet to the White Tower, the center of Aes Sedai.
Rand (Josha Stradowski), having a crush on Egwene (Madeleine Madden), is frustrated that she intends to become the village's next Wisdom – both leader and healer, but unable to marry and give birth.
Trollocs, the giant boar-headed monsters of the Dark One, ambush the village of Two Rivers on a dance festival at night. Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins), the current Wisdom of the village, is taken away. In the fight against the Follocs in their house, Perrin accidentally kills his wife Laila.
Moiraine fights the Trollocs with One Power to help the villagers and is wounded. Moiraine tells the four young villagers about the Dragon Reborn, and the quartet reluctantly join Moiraine and Lan on their journey to the White Tower to pull the Trollocs away from their village.
