Archaeologist Nicholas Kirin is working with a group of loggers when he discovers a statue bearing the characters of the ancient Arawakan script and motifs of the legendary Curupira. Despite his warnings, the loggers still try to touch the statue and are all killed by mysterious magic afterwards. After many days without contact from the group of loggers, Vera - the owner of the timber business decide to hire Lebecq's boat and team to take her to the loggers' location. The ship also boards Amanda and Scott - Nicholas Kirin's daughter and son, who are trying to find their missing father.

Their journey goes deeper and deeper into the jungle, with many dangers lurking everywhere: hordes of aggressive, cunning piranhas ... even eating their ship, poisonous frogs, giant crocodiles, monster pythons, … and cannibal tribes. A truth is finally revealed: the Emerald stone attached to the discovered artifact is the heart of the Curupira. Kirin members must choose between destroying it to free themselves or preserving it so that the Amazon Protector is still alive to protect the jungle against human encroachment.
