Suicide Squad is a 2016 American superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name, written and directed by David Ayer. In the film, a secret government agency led by Amanda Waller recruits imprisoned super-criminals to perform undercover security missions and save the world from a supernatural threat. In return, their prison sentences were reduced.

Set after Superman's death, intelligence officer Amanda Waller convinces the US Government to give the green light to create a team called Task Force X, dedicated to responding to threats from subjects with superhuman abilities, under Waller's control via nanite bombs implanted in subjects' necks.
Dr. June Moone, an American archaeologist, is possessed by a witch known as the Enchantress. Waller can control the Enchantress by capturing her magical heart and would beat it as punishments if she refuses to follow Waller's orders.
Colonel Rick Flag, Moone's lover, is appointed as the leader of Task Force X. However, the Enchantress manages to trick and betray Waller, conquering Midway City, turning humans into monsters, and summoning her devil brother Incubus to destroy humanity.
During the battle against the Enchantress, the members of Task Force X turn themselves from strangers into friends and even family.

An adept marksman and assassin who never misses a shot. He is a mercenary by day and a caring father by night. Deadshot loves assassination missions, but it does mean he loves killing, and he also tries real hard to do good things like the wishes of his little daughter.
Deadshot is trusted by the other members of Suicide Squad as a spiritual leader, especially in their initial plan to uproot Flag.

A former psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum is lured by the Joker to become his crazy crime partner. Quinn became an avid Joker fan and fell in love with him to the extreme heat of sacrifice everything for love.

A volunteer member of Task Force X. She acts as Rick Flag's bodyguard. Katana is a talented Japanese swordsman, keeps mourning the death of her husband every time she can.
Her weapon is the Soultaker Blade, which has the ability to crystallize the souls of her victims into the sword which also contains her husband's soul.

Originally, the film was intended to reveal that Enchantress was being controlled by Steppenwolf, the main antagonist in Justice League (2017). But plot was dropped after the Justice League's story changed.
