Geralt meets Yennefer for the first time in an impressive and rocky situation, Ciri finds comfort among the dryads.
Yennefer abandons her position as mage to Aedirn's court, and lives a free life not being bound by the rules of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers. She earns a living by providing services of magical cures, remedies and illusions to ordinary people. Her old teacher Tissaia meets with and persuades her to come back to Aretuza to work as a master, but she declines.
Yen desperately wants to give birth to a child and tries all means to achieve it.
Geralt endures an insomnia so he “fishes” in a lake in a attempt to catch a djinn – so that he can make a wish to have a sleep. Jaskier shows up when Geralt catches an amphora bearing a wizard's seal. The seal is opened and the djinn is released, Jaskier makes 2 wishes, but they breaks the amphora by mistakes, then the djinn attacks Jaskier, making him terribly ill.
Thanks to the introduction of an elf healer, Geralt comes to Yen’s place to ask for help to heal Jaskier, she agrees. Romance doesn't seem to be blooming yet, but it's clear they enjoy each other's company. Meanwhile, Yen also wants to use the djinn to cure her infertility. With some efforts, Yennefer clouds Geralt's mind and sends him to sleep – actually a day dream in which he unconsciously punishes some local authorities as a revenge for Yen on behalf.
Yen uses her magic to help cure Jaskier but in the mean time, she also wants to become a vessel to contain the djinn in order to make herself more powerful. She is in deadly danger because actually Jaskier is not the djinn’s master, and he can not make the last of the 3 wishes to finish the process. It’s Geralt who shows up in time to do it, and saves her. They fall in love.
