“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. CIRI TO PLAY A MORE MORE CENTRAL ROLE IN SEASON 2
It is not surprising that Cirilla is a central figure. In the book, Ciri's story is the backbone of the entire unfolding of The Witcher epic. She has royal origins and is the legitimate heir to various thrones, she also has Elder Blood which makes her gifted with unrivaled magic power, she shares the destiny with the best warrior of the era being Geralt of Rivia ... All the magic around her and inside her as well as her efforts to survive all the harsh challenges are going to shape the major events of the Continent.
After successfully finding Ciri who is bonded with him as per the Law of Surprise, Geralt is expected to use all possible means to protect her from the hunts of various forces, especially Cahir and the Nilfgaardian Empire. The newly released images for Ciri show that she is now equipped with a weapon: maybe Ciri in Season 2 is getting into training to get her inner powers under control, or maybe she has turned herself into a true fighter, instead of being a running girl all the time.
TIMELINE OF THE WITCHER SEASON 2
One point worth mentioning of The Witcher Season 1 is the way of telling stories in multiple places and on a non-linear timeline that leads to a collection of different stories, making many audiences confused and sometimes uncomfortable.
This probably won't happen much in Season 2, where the stories of Geralt, Ciri and Yen respectively are now set on a single timeline. However, there may be some flashbacks from the past.
WHEN WILL THE WITCHER SEASON 2 BE AIRED?
Netflix originally scheduled to air Season 2 in July 2021, however complicated developments of Covid-19 occurred in the UK - the series' main filming location caused the filming to be interrupted several times.
At the end of 2020, during the filming of Season 2, Henry Cavill got a leg injury, causing him to stop his acting and have to practice for a long time to recover. This incident causes the progress of The Witcher 2 to be further interrupted. It's likely to be until the end of 2021 that the film will be broadcast.
