In episode "We are the end of the world", the story 7 years ago of Alpha and her daughter Lydia is flashed back, also the relation between Alpha - Beta, the origin of the Whisperers, and how the first skin mask was created. Further to the past story, concurrent movements inside Alpha's pack are also depicted, in which a new female character is highly apprecited by Alpha and is then appointed as Gamma - the 3rd ranking in the herd.
Also in this episode, Alpha observes the smoke raising from her border, causing by the forest fire, and comes to know that the survivors have entered into her territory. She decides to return to the Oceanside to punish them, as a way to improve her his dignity in the pack as well as to strengthen the pack's loyalty.
